About Me & What I do...

Welcome to Shalise’s Ocean Support, my goal is to help make a positive change in the ocean and save our beautiful marine animals from extinction and to protect our ocean and beaches for future generations.

Disposing of fishing line responsibly is a huge passion of mine.

Turtles, marine mammals, sea birds and many more can be severely injured or die from entanglement in discarded fishing line. I did a lot of research and found out that fishing line is one of the most harmful things that gets washed into the ocean because its’s strong and invisible in the water.  A lot of the marine animals cant see it floating in the water and if caught in the line they can't break free.

Fishing line can take up to 600 years to break down in the ocean and I don’t think a lot of people understand exactly how much damage that one piece of fishing line they throw away can do, that’s why I would love to create as much of an awareness as possible around the world.

So just remember, SOS – Save our seas - our marine wildlife really needs your help before it’s too late! We need to rally together and help to make a difference in helping save our beautiful marine animals from extinction and to protect our beautiful oceans for future generations as the oceans are essential to life on Earth.

I also enjoy writing too the local papers asking if they would like to put something in the paper about my fishing line collection bins. I like to do this because it spreads the word and it helps people to remember the right thing to  do with their used fishing line.

So far I have been in quite a few papers which makes me feel over the moon. I just love spreading the word about the damage discarded fishing line causes.

I have also been on the radio which was to help spread the word about Clean Up Australia Day.
